Would you wait until 11:00 PM for someone who promised to meet you at 8:00 PM? That is the question raised by Episode 5 of Our Yesterday’s Escape.
This episode shows how complicated and imperfect Shan and Kierra are. They are not the typical fairytale leads who exist only to give viewers romantic moments. Instead, their flaws make their relationship more interesting to analyze.

Shan’s Three-Hour Delay: A Major Red Flag
Let’s talk about their date.
Shan planned to meet Kierra at 8:00 PM. However, he arrived three hours late without contacting her. Even worse, Kierra saw him embracing another woman.
That situation raises several red flags. Of course, there is a twist behind what happened, so viewers will have to keep watching to understand the full story.
Still, the circumstances make it difficult to blame Kierra for feeling hurt.
Why Did Kierra Wait Until 11:00 PM?
Kierra arrived at Yesterday’s Coffee around 6:30 PM, well ahead of their scheduled date. She waited for Shan until 11:00 PM, when the café staff were already cleaning up for closing time.
Honestly, I felt sorry for her. Watching her wait that long was painful. It was not romantic at all. I wanted to step into the screen and take her home to Luna.
Their date was supposed to happen at 8:00 PM. Yet Kierra stayed for hours without hearing from Shan. Then, just as she was about to leave, she saw him arrive and hug another woman.
Again, there is a twist behind this situation. However, that does not erase the emotional impact of what Kierra experienced.
She expected Shan to keep his promise. Instead, she spent hours waiting for someone who gave her no assurance that he would show up.
Kierra’s Low Self-Esteem Makes the Situation More Complicated
While I sympathize with Kierra, I also think she could have handled the situation differently.
By 8:30 PM, she could have left if Shan had still not contacted her. She did not have to spend the entire evening waiting for him.
However, her decision reflects more than poor judgment. It also reveals her low self-esteem, which stems partly from the trauma she experienced with her ex-boyfriend.
This is what makes the episode challenging for viewers. We can understand Kierra’s feelings while still questioning her choices.
Her actions may frustrate us, but they also reveal how past experiences can affect a person’s decisions in a new relationship.
As a result, Episode 5 tests our patience. It asks us to look beyond the surface and understand the emotional baggage that Shan and Kierra bring into their relationship.
Direk Gino’s Visual Treatment Elevates the Story
Beyond the characters and their complicated relationship, I continue to appreciate Direk Gino’s visual treatment of the series.
As I mentioned in my review of Episode 1, the visuals are clean, the colors are beautiful, and the cinematography feels cinematic.
These elements give Our Yesterday’s Escape a more mature feel. They also complement the emotional complexity of the story.
“See You in Yesterday”: A Beautiful but Tragic Foreshadowing
My absolute favorite part of Episode 5 is one line: “See you in Yesterday.”
On the surface, it refers to Yesterday’s Coffee, the café where Shan and Kierra’s date was supposed to happen.
However, the line takes on a deeper meaning when we consider where their story might be heading.
To me, it feels like beautiful but tragic foreshadowing. It hints that Shan and Kierra may eventually reach a point where the past is the only place they can return to, at least in their memories.
Perhaps, in the end, yesterday will be the only place where they can still be together.
