Is Evil Dead Burn scary? It is currently No. 1 on Netflix Philippines as of this writing.
A Body Horror Film That Will Make You Squirm
I wasn’t exactly scared by Evil Dead Burn. Instead, I felt repulsed and uncomfortable because of the film’s excessive gore.

This is true body horror. The film subjects its characters to extreme physical violations that are difficult to watch. Some scenes will make you wince, especially if you are sensitive to graphic violence.
However, if you are a fan of this type of horror, Evil Dead Burn might be right up your alley.
What Is Evil Dead Burn About?
Evil Dead Burn follows Alice and her in-laws as they gather to celebrate the life of her recently deceased husband, Will. However, their reunion takes a terrifying turn when demons come after them. Will’s grandfather had hidden a dagger that could kill these powerful beings, making the family their next target.
You Might Need to Know the Franchise First
One thing I noticed while watching the film was how confusing some of its events could be, especially if you have no prior knowledge of the Evil Dead franchise.
I had so many questions that I wanted answered.
For example, did you know that Jessica, the demon in the lake shown at the beginning of the movie, was also featured in Evil Dead Rise? I didn’t know that either, so I had to Google it.
When I first saw her, I immediately wondered who she was, why she was in the water, and how she connected to the story. I later discovered that she appeared in Evil Dead Rise, the previous film in the franchise.
That discovery helped clarify the connection, but I wish the movie had provided more context for viewers who might not have seen its predecessor.
A Missed Opportunity With the Dagger
I also found myself questioning the demons’ actions.
These beings are supposed to be powerful, yet some of their decisions struck me as foolish. They were searching for a dagger that could kill them, but they seemed completely unaware of its presence.
Think about it. One of their own had already been killed using the dagger. You would expect the others to sense the danger, especially since they are connected to one another.
Then, when the dagger fell, they could have rushed to retrieve it. Instead, they chose to chase someone who posed no real threat to them.
This was one of my biggest frustrations with the film.
Moreover, the discovery of the dagger lacked the dramatic buildup I expected. There was no special moment to make viewers feel the excitement or significance of the reveal. We only realized that the dagger was the weapon they had been searching for after the demon it stabbed died.
I felt that the film wasted an opportunity to make this moment more impactful.
Is Evil Dead Burn Worth Watching?
Despite these issues, I still consider Evil Dead Burn a good watch.
As a body horror film, it delivers the reactions you would expect from its target audience. Its graphic scenes can make viewers feel deeply uncomfortable, and that seems to be part of the experience it aims to create.
The pacing is also fast. The story does not waste much time, making the film easy to get through once you start watching.
I also appreciated its visual treatment, which added to the overall viewing experience.
